No one gets to play ahead of release, but we’ll have our review up ASAP.
We know you depend on IGN for timely reviews of all the biggest games, but unfortunately we will not be able to provide a Doom review ahead of or at launch on May 13 – because we won’t have played it yet. When declining our request for pre-release review copies, a Bethesda representative provided the following official statement:
“DOOM is a robust game comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. We believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.”
So we won’t get to play Doom until you do, but we’ll do everything we can to make sure our review is up as soon as possible. In the meantime, take a look at our latest Doom preview coverage.
