Mass Effect: Andromeda Releases 10-Hour Trial

Despite its strong initial sales, Mass Effect: Andromeda has hardly reached the same level of acclaim as the other entries in BioWare’s beloved sci-fi RPG series. Perhaps to try and stir further interest in the title, however, Electronic Arts has announced that the game will be available as a free, 10-hour trial for any gamers intrigued but unwilling to immediately part with cash.

According to EA, this Mass Effect: Andromeda trial will run until November 1, 2017, and will offer up a fairly open look at the game in question, as both single player and multiplayer gameplay will be available through the trial. Indeed, while players are limited into reaching the first planet in the single player mode, apparently the multiplayer will be truly unlimited up to that 10 hour mark, much like the previous EA Access trial.

Those who could then potentially buy the game after reaching the end of the trial will also be pleased to know that save progress will carry over into the full version, meaning that there would be no need to start from scratch unless the player really wanted to. What’s more, those who took part in that Mass Effect: Andromeda Origin 10-hour trial will be able to get another shot at the game here.

Taking part in this trial is likely a good idea for a number of reasons. For starters, it allows players to get a first-hand look at a game that has heavily divided opinion, and the first 10 hours of the game will paint a solid reflection on whether a user would then enjoy the rest of the title. Alongside this, it’s also a chance for those put off by those oh-so-obvious problems with Mass Effect: Andromeda to see if BioWare’s numerous fixes have managed to improve the overall experience enough to take the plunge.

Both BioWare and EA will be hoping that this trial manages to give Mass Effect: Andromeda a second lease of life, and perhaps weaken the criticisms that have been levelled against the game. Although the title certainly has its fans, it’s also been a sour note in the Mass Effect series, so much so that it has thrown the future of the Mass Effect franchise into question with Mass Effect as a whole being put into hiatus. Should the trial prove successful, then maybe those questions over potential DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda will also finally get answers.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The free trial of the game runs until November 1, 2017.
