Every Known Ability in BioWare’s New Game

After months of teasing and speculation, EA’s secretive project formerly known as codename Dylan was revealed to the public for the first time at E3 2017. Anthem, as it’s now known, was given a short trailer during EA Play, but it wasn’t until Microsoft took the E3 stage a day later that a lengthy gameplay demo revealed just how stunning the visuals and animations are. With a class system similar to other games like Destiny, one player took it upon himself to catalog all known abilities for each of the different Javelin exo-suits.

While there’s still a lot of details EA and BioWare are holding back from revealing about Anthem, the gameplay demo did show off a few classes known as Javelins which are intended to fit certain roles within a group. The main character of the demo suits up into a Ranger style Javelin, seen as a versatile, jack of all trades. The player known as Paul chooses a Colossus style Javelin, intended to be a heavy tank style character.

While nothing is official, Reddit user beelzeybob put together a complete list of known class abilities after repeated viewings of the E3 2017 demo complete with GIFs as well. While all classes appear to have the ability to warp in, fly, and boost run, there are a few key differences.

Colossus

  • Ground Pound Smash
  • Mortar Strike

Ranger

  • Multi-Target Missile Volley
  • Shotgun
  • Scope Zoom

A third class which appears at the end of the demo piloted by Sandra is currently unnamed, but appears to be some sort of TechnoMage, caster style class. The boosted run effect is different from the other three as it uses a lightning style effect, and later in the footage, the player is also able to hover and float in the air. Not much else is known about this class.

While additional information is likely to follow as the year progresses, a launch date has been a controversial topic since Anthem’s reveal. The official YouTube channel for the game initially posted a Spring 2018 date, which ultimately turned out to be incorrect. BioWare quickly clarified and revealed that the title likely wouldn’t arrive until sometime in the Fall of 2018 instead.

Anthem is targeting release sometime in Fall 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
